TV cable adjustment?
Ok the 92 in my sig, can the cable wear out enough that the factory spec for setting the cable isn't right? if I set it with approx. 1/16 gap my 1-2 shift is almost immediate same with 2-3, but if I set with 0 gap (actually putting pressure on the cable) it has a nice crisp 1-2 shift, 2-3 are still almost immediate (I know I need to adjust the bands) The truck has about 220,000 on it

Some guys adjust them by "feel" and where shift occurs.
I used the fsm guide to do mine, but it never shifted quite right either.
Ultimately, when I ordered a new TV cable, installed it, and used the FSM as a guide, the truck never shifted.better, and has been that way since. The cable wears inside the sheath, preventing proper response, as it moving laterally in the sheath, vs back and forth.
Get a new TV cable and follow the FSM

Thanks, before I adjusted it tight against the pin it would shift into 3rd before you would get through an intersection, now it will hold first pretty good, nice crisp shift to second then really quick to 3rd so I assume I need to adjust the bands as well as get a new cable

Hey, Vern!! Have you changed out the 2 throttle linkage bushings yet? Try that, lube everything up, along with that new cable.
I have a new, brand spanking new, cable sitting in my 1stGen pile. Pricey sucker, and that’s what keeps me from pulling out my old one that still good

Before you adjust the bands, install the new cable. Drive it. See how it performs. Once you feel comfortable with it's functionality, then adjust the bands. You may have to re adjust the TV cable again, I don't know.
I learned a long time ago to NOT do a bunch of things at the same time when addressing an issue, as too many variables prevent you from easily determining if one step or one process was an issue in itself or it was a combination.
It's kind of like when you know you're allergic to something, you don't just go and give up everything you're eating that you like. One step at a time, and you're likely to find what's causing your reaction to foods. It took me years to figure out I was allergic to both Hot peppers, and peanut butter. Both of them mess me up bad, and after nearly 5 decades of eating PB, it was hard giving it up, but cured my reactions to it. My wife is allergic to eggs after 50 years of eating them. Process of elimination has cured her of the stomach pains, and me as well.... except it wasn't my stomach...
