Engineered diesel could make a 62mm that could out flow that one. your takeing just the simple general 62mm. There are many applications of 62mm turbo's.

I am sure/know that they could. But whats it going to cost? You can get a super 40 for less than $1k. And it will support ~400hp for most people just fine.

Its not just about a turbo that flows a bunch to support >600hp, its the combination. Notice in the thread linked above he says "properly fueled". So not a p-pump putting out 800hp worth of fuel.

Yeah but thats used, what did it cost new? You can get a brand spankin new super 40 for less than 1k. All the other s300 variants are 1500+, at least what i've seen.

You are also paying a premium for a name to follow the sheep.

And other than the known fact that when over-fueled and barked the holset 40 will break the shaft, not sure how it is junk? When used in the right application and in a "properly fueled" setup they work and perform great!

I guess you just don't get that some people aren't trying to squeeze 600+hp out of their engine.

Yep. you are 100% right, an HX40 is a junk turbo. That is, if you have an 800rwhp pulling truck.

However, if you have a truck that tows, and is around 400rwhp, a Super 40 is a perfect turbo. There is no denying that fact. If it was junk, why would so many people who tow often, and heavy use it? They wouldn't, simple as that.

Im not paying for any name or following any sheep. You know as well as I do that Bell Turbo's are great turbo's and well worth their money.

"And other than the known fact that when over-fueled and barked the holset 40 will break the shaft, not sure how it is junk?"

It's junk becasue it breaks like that and is known for doing it. And yes they still do break when they are not overfueld so your arguement for wrong application is thrown out. You can bark them on the right application and still break them. Seen it done.

I havn't heard of this problem from Pius's turbo's.

Like I said you get what you pay for.
under $1000 = broken holset 40's
over $1500 = stout turbos made by reputable companies for your exact applications.

BTW I don't make 600 hp or anywhere near that. So I don't know why you think Im pushing for that or don't understand that some people dont need 600hp. I bet I only make just over 400hp or maybe just under it.

he-351, got it for $100 bucks-50k miles. works great on a 1st gen. i think most gyys pay way too much for laggy turbos that dont fit their application.

Last I checked the guy that started the thread was looking for performance and was going to pull it. I don't think a HX-35, HX-40, Super 40, or he-351 is the weak kind of performance you want when sled pulling.

He-351VE here, got it for $100 bucks shipped, don't know how many miles can't be many. Gonna put it on the auto truck, from other people's experience, should spool instantly and still flow plenty under load!

Again, it depends on the application. In a 400rwhp VE that will tow, a Super 40 is perfect. So, in that sense, no it is not a junk turbo. You can't deny that fact, otherwise, anything you say has zero credibility.

In a high rwhp truck, yes, I would agree that an HX40 has no buisness being there, however, you give me one of your "Engineered Diesel" S300's, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that I could break it. Is it junk? No, it just wasn't intedned for that application.

You can talk to Brian Block, probably the most respected person in the 1st Gen world, and he'll tell you what he thinks about the Super 40. I can tell you right now, he knows a lot more about these engines and turbo's than you, and has been around them longer, so his opinion is of greater value than yours.
