edit:
Just listened to that video. You don't want your 1st gen to sound like that. A guy down my street has a similar set up and its sounds like a muffled hair drier with a little bit of rumble mixed in.

you need one of these:

There is some turbo sound followed by the motors roar lol

Anyway, in all seriousness. The most turbo whistle I've heard is from an s300 style turbo charger. Both my s362 and a4000 turbos whistled the same, and it is/was a loud whistle.

I really just want more whistle from the exhaust, good point but I personally liked the way that the 6.7l sounded.

Take off your muffler and run an open-element air filter. I use a wix BHAF with a 3"-to-4" black ABS plumbing adapter. Whistled pretty good. Put in the HX35 and removed the silencer ring... even more whistle.

straight through mufflers work well for giving some turbine whistle out the pipe but dampening the exhaust drone enough for it to be tolerable. I run a straight through muffler and I can hear my turbine wheel if I have my passenger window down.

I noticed this on our big trucks. They actually sounds better than the 5" straights. The '93 doesn't have much turbine noise since the addition of the 3rd gen flo pro straight exhaust and pac brake.

How about one of these? Just weld it into the exhaust pipe!

if that comment was directed to me then ones that have powerstrokes in them maybe but I'm talking about my 91 VE motor with an aurora 4000 that is in said Ford.

That said, the sound I was referring to, you don't hear at idle like the OP wants. It's only audible while driving.

Now one could get an he351VGT an have the vanes closed at idle and it should whistle sorta like the OP video. Just gotta figure out how to set the vanes to open and close properly.

That whistle at idle would drive me crazy. Mine screams when it's boosting. Ear piercing when passing 18wheelers and loaded heavy.
