I have the chance to pick up a holset volvo hx52 turbo for a really decent price, my question is, is this too much for a 1st gen? the thing is massive capable of flowing 87lb/min and supporting up to 1000hp. Compressor side has 4" inlet and 3" outlet. Turbine side is twin scroll t6 flange. 3.5" Outlet. It's comparable to a garret gt42 just cheaper. Anybody familiar with these?

I got some info on this turbo and apparently it's really not that great. Anybody know a fairly cheap turbo upgrade for these engines?

 

if you can spool it and not break the shaft, your good, my buddy with a 600hp p pump snaped his in the first pull out of his driveway. they have a 16cm housing im told, his was movin like no other till it let loose.

 

Yeah thats exactly the same thing I heard, the main shaft is the weak link in them and only good for around 50 psi, I also was told they are prone to being over revved easily aswell and that is what blows them apart.
