Trucks been running okay, but just found this… need help identifying.

So, recently my Hazard lamp function stopped working and I was left with just turn signals. I’ve swapped out fusible links so started checking wires near the bulkhead drivers side firewall… checked some wires and found a loose connection, fixed the hazards but found what looks to be a 8-10ga black wire that is severed. Could someone please help me identify before having to pilfer through the entire harness? There are 2 black wires the look identical running in the same section of harness.

Dang, that's a bigin. Did you check to see if it was hot? Being black, and that big, I would first assume a ground until proven otherwise. Grid heaters maybe? Without looking through a schematic I'll let them that know chime in.

My truck is wired to pull a bumper hitch trailer. Also a socket in the driver side bed under the lip for a gooseneck. My taillights pop when they get a notion too. Just another thing on the list. It's a rat nest.

Electric trailer brake line?

crazy you mention that, I know this truck was goosenecked so there IS like half of a trailer lighting system still intact but this the previous owner didn’t wouldn’t have bothered to try and put it through the loom or anywhere near the harness. I’ll keep checking and let yall know

It would help to know what year your truck is as the wiring harness is different on different years

Update false alarm

It was the old alternator wire that I cut back with the fusible link
