Truck won't start after VE Pump adjustment

After adjusting the smoke screw and start wheel on my VE pump, my truck won't start. I've checked the 2 electrical connections, and they appear to be secure. I'm pretty sure I lost prime, but I don't know how to re-prime the system. I've tried using ether, all it does is make it spin over faster when trying to start, but never catches. THis is on a 90 Cummins, non intercooled.

Any Ideas?

Those adjustments won't make it "lose prime."

I had one on my 92 come off and put it back on with no problem but it didn't go on exactly right and wouldn't start. After checking the connection it was so loose it couldn't connect, cut it off and replaced it and no more problems. Check the connector to make sure it is getting good contact or it may not start or it could come off at the most inopportune time like at a busy red light. Good luck with it.
