Here is a good thread, early to mid 80's VW diesels, others used the same one. Quick check on fleabay shows they are now in the low 20 dollar region.

Well today I got the truck running after pulling the plunger and spring out of the FSS... and left the wire unplugged and when I hit the key off the truck shut off ?? not sure why its doing that but i can start it and stop it fine... thoughts ?

I spun out the selonoid on the outside of the injection pump with the single wire and pulled out a metal plunger and the spring behind it.. Is that not where the fuel shutoff is ? I know the manual shutoff lever is right next to it What is the KSB ?

If you pulled the one on the lower side of the pump that's the wrong one. You want the one just above where the injector lines connect to the pump head. If what you did "fixed" the problem you have a loose wire on the fss and messing around with the harness made it make contact.
