Truck has no power after injector pump replacement

I replaced the injector pump on my 1990 engine and it ran really bad. No power at all, wouldn't even accelerate up hill. I sent the pump back. they said the secondary governor was out of calibration. I know it does not have one. Reinstalled still ran like bad. I adjusted the smoker pin all the way. got alittle more power out. But it smokes real bad now on acceleration and the turbo hardly spins. Am I looking at a turbo issue or something else?

IT sounds as though your AFC is not operating properly, and not giving it any fuel up in the higher RPMS. Check to make sure the fuel pin is getting full travel and that it is not stuck, and that the line from the manifold to the AFC is connected and is not plugged up.

I will check that. What should I be looking for in ease of travel? Should it easily move what am I looking for if it is stuck?

Is the smoke white or black? If it's white, maybe the gear got moved while the pump was out and the timing is way retarded. If the smoke is black you have a lack of air. Could be the turbo went south. I'd check the air cleaner housing first though, maybe a rodent built a nest in there and clogged up the works. If that's not the case pull the intake off the turbo and with the engine off grab the nut on the shaft in the middle and while turning it push and pull gently. You shouldn't be able to make it rub anything, if it is it's time to find a replacement.
