Trany Rebuild by Owner???
I was wondering what mods to a tranny I should be thinking about when I swap out my old TC and is this something that a home mechanic can do.

With over 100,000 miles, just doing a TC and even adding a VB will likely just cause something else to fail, which will fill the new parts with shrapnel and ruin them, so you'll have to buy them again. I wouldn't drop a trans with that kind of mileage without rebuilding it, and adding some upgrades. Call one of the vendors and talk to them, most of them sell a kit for R&R with the extra bands, clutches and heavy duty parts. Most of it can be done, if you have some of the special tools and an idea of which end of a wrench to hold, but the O/D spring needs a press to remove it.
I just did a shift kit until I can do the R&R.
