Transmission shop false advertising
I just wanted to let everyone know about this before anyone else gets caught from this.
I orded a transmission conversion kit for my 91 dodge. The company's internet page stated everything is in the kit to convert my truck to a NV4500 from the auto 727. All I needed on my end was a set of pedals, in which I had.
Well needless to say it didnt work. The kit they sent me had no bolts or instructions. The transmission they sent was a 29 spline when my NP205 is a 23 spline. The bell housing adapter to the block didnt accept my starter, didnt line up. They sent me the wrong tranny mount, along with no bracket to hook up the transfer case.
Here comes the lame part, mind you my truck is down now, my auto laying next to it. The transmission shop I got it from, takes two days to find a solution. He wants to send me parts as long as I pay for half of his mistake.
Why in the world did I buy the most expensive kit, with shipping $3,500+, see that it clearly wasnt going to work, and then the shop wants to soak me for an additional $350.00 for the right parts. Now I have repack the tranny, send it back to get my money back.
Needless to say I am ******, I am out 3500, out a vehicle until I can get my money back from the return to find another kit. I wonder how anyone else installed these kits from this shop and they still kept selling the parts like they didnt know the had the wrong parts. Total Scam. Maybe there is someone else who got scammed by this shop.
This shop is in Shingle Springs, CA

converting a 1st gen from auto to manual is virtually impossible. it's cheaper to buy an engine/tranny than to reconfigure the old engine. the tranny shop should have known this (it's fairly common knowledge) and should not have sold you the kit.
for that kind of money (maybe a bit more) you coulda had a DTT.

Perkins-
Did your brother have to get a new starter? I have the pedals already, and here soon will have the money. I need to find another solution to the tranny. I really dont want the auto in there any more. Anyone have any thoughts?

you need the transfer case from behind a stick it has a bigger imput shaft than the auto ones do and matches the out put shaft of the trans. yes you need to use the smaller starter. like my brother said it only took a weekend to swap evrything out and back on the road so no it is not virtually impossible. as for the cost it was around $3500. run a search for nv5600 in first gen there will be some useful links good luck

the motor plate, flywheel, clutch, trans. and starter came out of a 2002. had to get a transfer case from behind a stick. moved my crossmember back 2 holes in the frame drilled new holes and modified it so the mount would bolt up. made a plate to bolt the shifter for the transfercase. it was as easy as bolting everything back in.had to shorten the rear driveshaft 1 inch the difference in the motor plate.if you really want a kit check out QUAD4X4.com good people to deal with.
