Transfer case rear seal

Anybody replaced this? While I was doing my exhaust I noticed lots of sludge slung from the front of the driveshaft.
Is this easy as pull shaft, pry old one out and hammer in new one, or do I have to take the case apart.
Thanks

I replaced mine about six years ago, just drop the drive shaft and take the yoke off of the T-case output shaft. Then I punched a small hole in the metal part of the seal and ran a metal screw in just far enough to get a hold in the seal and pulled on the screw with a slide hammer. then slide the new seal on and tap it in place keeping it evan as it goes in. the whole job only took about 45 min.

Wannadiesel, Thank You!

I am also researching what type of gear fluid to use and what is the rubber seal behind the yoke? I followed the "sticky" link on NP205 transfer case. They mention a rubber seal behind the yoke when installed it........????

I just had mine off yesterday. The local autoparts store couldn't find anything for the rubber seal. I won't deal with the dodge dealer here, so i just put some silicone on the end of the splines.

i did not notice no rubber seal when i did mine. There was a rubber bushing type thing that went over the splines between the nut and yoke. I just reused mine nothing was wrong with it.
