Trans temp gauges?
Im looking to get a tranny temp gauge and was looking on e-bay at them,my ques is,some show higher temps than others which one's should I look at as far as the high numbers on the gauge ? 250 ...280 or higher Where should these things run on average or with a load?

For me, the higher numbers don't mean too much. Anything over 220 and I'm getting nervous and looking for a place to cool down... that being said I've seen 210 with snow up to my bumper pulling the trailer out of the snowbank. She heats up QUICK when you get stuck...

Maxx, Ideally the tranny should remain between 160 and 180.. 200 is getting warm and 220 is too hot....
B&M makes a nice one that is color coded at teh 200 mark, so its easy to just glance over and see generally where your at......

My Isspro (and most others) goes up to some ungodly temp... 300*F +(?). My guess is it's the same gauge as water temp with a different overlay that says "Transmission"... though in either case if it hit's max on the scale, you're screwed!

not to get off topic but the temp. range you guys are mentioning is that measuring in the pan?? or somewhere else?
as for your question goes... my gauge (autometer) goes up to 250 and it has never gone past 210 while operating. this is measuring from the pan
