It has been checked but hasn`t been changed in 8 yrs, yea, realised this and felt guilty so plan on dong it this week.
I`m open to all sugestions.

If it's a stick.....
Let's see.... the common answer to that inquirey is that the tranny will hold a factory recommended 3.5 quarts BUT the brains around here say to over fill it by a quart for a total of 4.5 quarts. I recently changed mine and did the over fill and have had no problems either before or since, tranny wise. I went to one of the local Speedy-Lubes and they had no problems servicing my tranny tho he looked at me funny when I said to fill it with the 5W-30. Other than that, no problems.
Use 5W-30 oil in it NOT 90 weight gear oil. It's a thin oil tranny and will fail should you run thick oil in it. If you have the money and tow a lot I would recommend running a 5W-30 synthetic. Seems like the more miles the bigger the benefit of a synthetic oil in there...
If it's an automatic, I don't know. I think I'd be taking it to a shop for that.... Good luck! Chuck

Looks like he has an auto trans. So don't overfil by a qt.
I use Castrol ATF+3 in mine and that is what is recomended. I know some of the people use different types to firm up the shifts but I can't help you there. It seems like I use 20 qts or so in mine but I have a double deep pan. I know I get 2 cases when I do mine just so I have enough it is a long way back to town. I will usually pull a line off and let it dump into a can for a gallon or so when I change mine. Just to flush it out.
