Total body lift:)

Well guys its almost done. It started 3 weeks ago when I was on vacation. I pulled the bed and rusty club cab and front dog box from one of my dads trucks. With work and my rc rear end going out I havent been able to mess with his truck much. Then being on vacation again on mon I got another cab on, bed on, and another dog box on. This truck is from up and down the east coast

Bed= VA
Cab= NJ
hood=PA
D-fender=OH
P-fender=NJ
D-door= OH
P=door=NJ
dash= NC
dash wiring harness=WV
door harness= AL
seats/console= NY
grille= PA (Carlisle)
dash face=PA (Carlisle)
rear bumper=PA

The truck was a total rust bucket. The cab, bed, fenders, and rear bumper were gone. The truck runs awesome! The only things reused from the original 93 is the rad support, cowl, filler, and inner fenders. If your wondering why we didnt reuse the doors its because he wanted power. The original truck was a base model. The reason he had to buy another dash is someone busted the one in it up as well as hacked up the wiring! WHY DO PEOPLE DO THAT! I have to head up to North PA in the morning but I hope to get back in time to install the tach and woodgrain dash face. Then hopefully the door seals. I think it looks mean in 10 different colors Although we have several trucks this will be the first with red interior! My mom spent over an hour cleaning the carpet and dash. A lot of dog hair!

It is a lot to take in at first. He originally bought two cabs from the guy in NJ. The other cab was more complete but it has rusty rockers. I knew he was going to use the clean cab and make me deal with the wiring and replacing the dash. We are using it to robb interior trim pieces as its red to. He mentioned to me about getting it painted. He has to many nicer trucks to paint this one. He better paint his dually before this one! I swapped a nv4500 into it back in May. I had never had a dash out before. Its really not that bad but what made this situation bad was the new cab was an LE, but the dash he bought wasnt. Plus the cab was for a 2wd auto. I used the carpet out of the rusty cab, it was a 5spd 2wd. Then just cut out the 4x4 shifter hole. Another issue we never dealt with is the silver cab was a work truck for a paving company. It had tarr all over the driverside of it. Just so everyone knows the best way to remove road tare from your paint is Gojo and a little elbow grease! Just make sure you get the original Gojo, not the gritty stuff! It made taking off the tar a lot easier!

Whew that looks like alot of work! Call me nuts but I`m diggin the patchwork color scheme, if it were mine I`d be mighty tempted to keep it many colors.

I do to. I think it looks cool in that its different. I got the tach, woodgrain dash, door seals, wipers, and kick plates in this afternoon. I started the truck and found that when I pulled the headlights out the 4x4 shifter light comes on. I think I might have mixed up the light wires and stuck the 4x4 indicator light into the temp control and the temp control light into the 4x4 indicator. I hope thats it. I have to remove the dash face anyways because the info center isnt working. I will swap out the curcuit board with a known good and try again. Anyways, guys you should have seen the look on my dads face today when I started the truck (in full body) for the first time in over a year.

THE SMILE WAS PRICELESS TO ME! Tomorrow is my birthday and I already got what I want. He is 64 in august. He was in such bad health he couldnt go with me to Carlisle with me for the mopar show for the first time ever. It wasnt the same without him. Even though the previous 2 years I had to push him around in a wheelchair. It was nice just spending time with him. He is the reason I am even a first gen nut. Sorry guys, I get caught up when I think about this. RAM

Update. Well today I got the horn issue, info center, and 4x4 light corrected. The horn issue I never seen before. Someone actually hit the horn pad so hard it crushed the two copper pieces together. Once I took the horn pad off I noticed the hot wire was off. Then I realized why. I swapped it out with a known good. The info center circuit board must be bad. I plugged another into the red round plug and it worked perfectly. The 4x4 indicator light was my mistake. I had the wrong plug into the 4x4 indicator port. I got it all back together and told my dad to drive it. I know I still have to strighten the steering wheel. I also gave him his B-day present a month early. The one and only mopar accessory floor mats I have ever seen in red. I bought them for him to stick into his nicest truck but when he bought this can and it had red interior it just fits. Now I need to keep looking for a tan set since his nicest truck has spice interior! Thanks for the compliments guys. This was a lot of work for me. I had never had a dash out or a complete harness out. I was worried something wouldnt work! I will say what made it so difficult was using a cab, then another trucks dash, then another trucks wiring harness. The cab had a power door so he wanted to keep it. But the dash and harness was from a base truck. Luckily I had a stash of parts he was able to borrow. Most important was a power door harness and a cargo light switch. Well for now here is the somewhat finished product. He just ordered a AA nv4500 adapter kit for us to start another auto to nv4500 swap. That will start soon!

I did that to my '85 in a panic situation when a clueless person started to pull out in front of me. I had to unplug the horns to drive it the rest of the way home so I could fix it.

I have never hit it that hard but I guess I would if I was put in that situation. I also noticed that the steering wheel has a broken bolt in it. To get it off I used a big set of vise grips on the puller on that side to get it off to try and center the wheel. I have never seen this before but the splines arent all the way around. I mean one is very flatso you cant adjust it. I have centered the wheel on atleast 3 different trucks and everyone was splined all the way around so it could be moved a couple splines in either direction. This one doesnt allow that. Anyone ever see that before? Thanks, RAM

I kinda thought all vehicles were that way... all the ones I've ever taken off have been. If it's off center I would assume that means it was hooked up wrong between the column and the steering box.
