Top Speed (stupidity)

Last week my son and I were driving into town on the freeway (divided, concrete barriers on both sides) and this ricer blasted by us. My foot twitched and I started to sweat, but I kept it under control. After that, and hot WRX blasted by, and my son said it was one of his friends who had turbo'd the crap out of his car. I started to sweat even more, and started cramping up, but still held, until my son asked how fast that guy was going! The dam broke. I jammed on it and in a very short time my speedo was wrapped all the way down past bottom dead center (BDC)!!!
My temps were good because it was slightly down hill, but I got out of it pretty quickly because I don't think my BFG's are Z rated tires . We did manage to figure out his friens was going about 110, and we were going about 115.
Worst part is, there was still a little left in her. And yes, I checked the speedo and it is dead on.

I have the Gear Vendors on the bench for rebuild (letting her bleed right now), and I have to wonder, with the GV and my Snow Performance put in, I wonder what the top speed would be?

Disclaimer: I do not advocate speeding on public roads. This is a cautionary tale that could have turned out very bad. I probably corrupted my 17 year old son (who graduates Wednesday). I have no excuse.

Never done that with the kids ( they are young ) but with the wife. We were young and I had a S10 p/u with a 350 small block. Reved it so much in high gear that I spun the belts off the engine. After wards you feel stupid and lucky.

Mine would go 89 when I first bought it. Bombing does a lot!

Was your Flux Capacitor Fluxing?

What is your rear tire diameter?
Was that adjusted for the tire expansion at that speed?

Last person that asked me top speed of my truck, I smiled at him & said "faster than I want to go in it". I know it is over 100 tho.

It did feel like I was about to lay down two firey stripes and end up in 1979 or so when I was cranking my '69 Fury to 135 all the time. Then there was the '68 Hemi Road runner (140) and the 'Cuda (150). I am here because God is kind to fools!

No, I didn't think 10 ply's would expand significantly, but maybe. Good point.

Maybe I need the 4,200 GSK and new valve springs, or just shoot me now and get it over with!
