The switch should be closed below 90 degrees, it should be open when the engine is warm. You should not have power to the KSB on a warmed up engine unless it's really stinkin' cold out. I have had this happen on a few highway trips in very cold weather. The manifold temp never gets above 90, so the KSB stays active the whole ride.

Mudcat, yours is the later type. I have seen many, many of those switches fail. The Dodge p/n is 4713521.
