I've got 16.5s on my truck too. I will be needing new tires soon, I've been thinking about biting the bullet and going to a 16". I remember when there were all kinds of choices for the 16.5s and few for the 16s. Times a changing.
I've looked at the BFGs and Swamper truxus mts. I don't need that much tire though. I would like to go back to the Geolander that I ran on my second gen.

Still lots of choices (if you don't mind load range "D" tires). If you want "E"s, then you gotta look at Interco Trxus MT. Only one I've found in a 33 x 12.5 x 16.5 with the load range "E" (10 ply).

If D's are okay, BF Goodrich makes the MT and the AT both in the 33 x 12.5x16.5 size. I loved my MT's when I had a half ton dodge, even in rain.

I like my bfgoodrich all terrains, i had 33x12.5x16.5s then i went to 35s. My dad just put 33s on his 94 and spent about 550 from a local tire place for the tires alone probably 600 after mount and balance. I dont think the mud tires last long enough on the heavy trucks to be worth it but im sure others would disagree.

I have a set of 31x10.50 BFG ATs on another truck and don't like them.

I would only run them if you are wanting to take every bit of paint off the truck.

I drive gravel and they throw it like crazy. Will cover the deck of my flatbed in a vew miles, beat all the wiring up on the truck, took all the undercoating out of the fenderwells. I am probably gonna pull them and put something else on there.

Anyone know anything about the truxus mt? I like these but wonder how long they will last. I have Kuhmo MTs now and they suck!

TRXUS MT:
Good in wet & snowy weather (for a mud tire ) due to siping from the manufacturer. Not sure about lifecycle under a CTD, however. FourWheeler or one of the other mags had a set on a Jeep and they wore okay. Said they were pretty quiet also (for a mud tire). But that Jeep is nothing like the weight of a CTD...

I've got somewhere near 25-30k on a set of 285 MTs. Rotate them and make sure your alignment is correct and they'll last a long time for a mud tire.

The Goodyears are so danged expensive though. I know a guy who has the truxus MT on his Furd SD they seam to wear ok but I really don't know how many miles he has on them. I don't think he does either? He's not too bright
