How many times do I need to replace the same part? Seven enough in 140,000 miles? I have had to replace the TPS in my 93 Dodge D350 LE Cummins 7 times. I purchased it with 60,000 miles and now have 200,000. The first five were installed by Dodge and the last two by a diesel truck shop. It is out again. No one has an answer. I saw a bulletin from Dodge that said they fixed the problem but it was detected and fixed in 94 and I didn't buy the truck until 95. This is hard on my Transmission. Hard on my pocket. and Hard on my patience! I feel if once fixed it should stay fixed. Any thoughts?

For the TPS, there is an adjustment procedure you can do to keep it shifting right, at least for a while. It can be found here: http://piersdiesel.com/Tech1GTPS.htm

On one of our trucks I just put a switch in to override the TPS. Also what some people have done is to install a 2nd gen shift lever with the O/D button in the end to control it.

You will never fix it. I cut my TPS off about two years ago and replaced it with a 5K potentiometer, 1/2 watt, 10 turn style, and have never looked back. You can go with the single turn type they work just as good. There is only one draw back, you will not have a passing gear, you have to use the OD button to kick it down to 3rd.
The potentiometer set up only cost me around 15 to 20 dollars. Shifts to OD are instant, no hesitation and no periodic adjusting. Best of all, no waiting for the TPS to go bad in the middle of knowwhere. Shift points are adjustable just like the old TPS.
Don't fight it just switch over to a potentiometer.

Thanks to you, I finally got mine changed out. Works great. I have had it done for about 3 months and towed the trailer twice. Works great as long as the button for the OD holds up. I love it and have not had any problems. I used a single turn pot and the setting area for mine is from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock depending if I'm running empty or towing. I like being able to adjust it from the drivers seat.
