I know this was stupid but I just want it fixed know I was turning the idle down so I took the throddle linkage off the pump it’s a ve pump and now when you go to throddle up it idles down until it dies and it doesn’t throddle up

I got it figured out I had the little screw that the linkage turns was all the way right where it needed to be all the way left but the linkage with the ball caps isn’t long enough there are two holes that the ball hitch looking thing hooks on can I pull the hitch ball out and swap it in the other hole and put the Springs in the hole the ball was in it is the a518 trans

Hold the throttle peddle to the floor. Hold the throttle lever on the injection pump to the full throttle position. Adjust the link (the rod with the ball ends) to fit between the end hole on the throttle lever and the hole on the throttle bell crank. It should look like this:

Just an FYI intercooled and NON intercooled linkage rods are different lengths.

Are you saying you can not make the rod short enough to use on the outer hole?

The ball cup linkage is in the outer hole it is not long enough to let the throddle hit the throttle stop so the truck won’t idle down properly can I put the ball cup linkage in the other hole and move the springs to the hole the ball cup linkage is in now

Yes, you can. But I found it interfering with the kickdown linkage. I'm having difficulty following your description, can you post a picture of the throttle lever with the TPS bracket removed?

I already switched it I haven’t tried to drive it yet

You will find this changes the amount of throw you get on the engine side by the amount it changes on the foot pedal side. Making the pedal stiffer, the throttle twitchy, ETC.

Did you take the whole splined linkage that is in front on the AFC housing off?
I am still wondering why after you worked on it suddenly the throttle rod is not the right length.

My guess you put it back on the wrong splines and now have idle and throttle rod issues.
Maybe best to get it on the right spline.

Yes I took that splined linkage off if I put it back on right how to I know I have it on the right spines there were a bunch of little marks on the splined linkage

I have a pressure switch for overdrive if that makes a difference

If you took off the splined units and put them back on, but now the throttle rod can not be adjusted to reach anymore.
The splined unit is not back in the same place.

This is the root of your adjustment and idle / stalling issues.

Is there a standard to adjust it to or just till it works

The few times that part has ever been off a pump on one of my trucks a clean and clear picture was taken. Or a detailed drawing.

How to reset it after the fact, I have never tried to deal with.

I am just saying before making a bunch more modification to it to solve the issue. maybe try a few times to get the splined parts on correctly.
