Thinking about going manual trans from auto...
So this has been on my mind for some time now. I've read threw endless threads on this site and all over the internet.
I would like to do the nv4500 in place of the auto. I would like to use as many dodge engineered parts and pieces as possible for a factory like install.
Gas pickups in 92 and 93 came with the light duty nv4500. If I found one of those as a parts truck, could I use the parts from that truck or would I just be better off ording a kit from someone? I know there are several differences in the light duty nv4500 versus the heavy model, but would this be worth doing with the idea of ordering a heavy duty nv4500 and just putting it in the place of the light duty one? Maybe rebuild it as a heavy duty model with swapping input shaft and the slip yokes around?
Also, with the cummins would the transmission and transfer case sit in the same place and use the same drive shaft lengths or would I have to move this back or forth to make this work using factory first gen gas truck parts with the cummins adapter stuff?
Thanks

the gasser stuff won't work you would be better off finding a complete truck and selling off what you don't need . the swap is very straight foward just finished 1 a couple month's ago total work time was 2 solid day's but if you had a donor then you wouldn't have to worry about the little thing's you may need . or if your going NV4500 just find the first gen pedal's and clutch bracket and hydro's then buy trans and transfer case

Gasser tranny is the same except Input/Output shafts, and unless you are going to hit it fairly hard, the fact that the gasser is a 23 spline output means you don't have to change the 205 TC at all. ( HD or Getrag would mean changing to the 29 spline input ) All that would really be required would be to change the Input to the NV4500, get the 2nd gen engine adapter plate/starter/bellhousing. That puts the trans/TC rearward about 1", not sure if there is enough in the driveshaft splines to accommodate it without alteration.
