In-tank sending units

Are the non i/c and i/c sending units interchangeable?

Jimbo, from what i've seen and read, they should be the same. As a matter of fact, i think it's the same in my 2001 also.

fuel sending unit # 52017992 $64.75
Fuel tank seal # 52018808 $10.20

(those are list prices)

Make sure you check with your dealer for the application and it matches, but those should be the numbers.

I would also suggest changing out the seal that the fill tube goes into, as it will add another $12 to your job.

I just dropped my tank in my 92, and had the fuel sending unit and seal in hand. Unfortunately, when I removed the fuel fill tube, the other seal that the fill tube goes into ripped out during disassembly. Never thought I needed it, and now I'm 3 days out without the truck back together, as I ordered it online. Not close to a local dealer that's worth a darn.

New fill tube seal will be here today, and I can post the number later if you wish.

That'd be great, thank you!

Just to be clear, by sending unit, I mean the entire assembly. That being the case, will the electrical and fuel line connections work without modification?

That part # I provided is NOT THE CASE INCLUDED. It's just the sending unit which attaches to the bucket / reservoir assembly's side.

You need to get the entire assembly from the dealer. They need the lst 9 digits from your vin to get the correct one.

That one is significantly more $$$$$

Call Wholesalemopar with your vin.... 800-428-0517 and if Robert answers, tell him " T. " referred you.

Their prices are really good, comparatively from our local dealer.

Gotcha. Thanks again. Luckily the '91.5 is complete a donor truck. I know the cases themselves vary between the i/c and non i/c trucks which is why I was curious if the assemblies were interchangeable.

Filler neck seal (grommet) part #

5217578

Why are you changing the entire assembly, when the sending unit is just 2 screws and a seal ?

Well, looking at the 2 articles in the sticky regarding big fuel lines, it seems the i/c assembly is designed better. I like the preliminary screen at the bottom rather than a "sock" filter on the non i/c assembly.
