Takin the cummins for 800 miles
Well im going to Ohio to pick up my brandy new 24 foot flat bed trailer tonight/tomarrow. Got the truck all rotated, n greased up. Im dying to get some mileage figures.
Do we have a member map here for occasions like this for "just in case" senario's should someone break down? I have one on another forum I belong to, so I was a little curious. Im pretty confident in her, but she does need u-joints.
I'll post back tomarrow eve. with mileage numbers for ya'll!

I got mileage numbers, im both very impressed, and kind of let down.
On the way out, just the truck I managed 22MPG turnin 65 - 75 for 385 miles on I-81 and I-80 through PA.
On the return trip with the trailer weigh'n approx. 4K I got 14MPG turning 65 - 70.
I was hoping for a little bit better, but I do need an airfilter, and possibly a fuel filter. But still very happy!

Hey JR, those #'s don't sound bad at all! Once you pass 65 or so, mileage pretty much goes out the window when your vehicle is shaped like a box of corn flakes
BTW, did I leave my 1/2'' drive ratchet, a 6'' extention and a 22mm deep impact socket at your place?

hmmm...... good question Greg, I havent ran across any mystery wrenches, I'll ask around though. maybe someone pick em up. That sounds like what you used to turn the motor over after the first, or maybe second pump removal and prime. What brand are they?
I'll go get some pics for ya'll asap, I'll even back the dually up to it too.

Thanks JR. I'm looking for 1 Craftsman 1/2'' drive ratchet, 1 Craftsman 6'' 1/2'' drive extention and 1 1/2'' drive deep 22mm impact socket...not sure the brand on the socket.
I'll have to come scope that trailer out, too. You've gotta check out my new stance--got some 91.5+ lift blocks FINALLY and I'm officially cured of the early first gen saggy butt syndrome!!!!

Sounds awesome, u save those old blocks for me? I really need to get the dodge up in the air some. I have the trailer at the lowest setting, and it was perfect height for the bumper! The trailer set dead level, not good sence I dont have a reciever and that'll drop it down some in the front when I do get one put on. I did ask about them, no one here has seen em, but maybe they are lay'n in the core support, somethin is rattling n i dont know what.
I have to dispatch out tonight at 11 so I need to get my butt to bed. Im going to hate work tonight!
Got a picture of the combo in my cummins picture gallery in the link in my Sig. for all to see!

Oh, I forgot to mention, on the trip I found some things that need fixing soon, number one being my exhaust!!!!! Im almost deaf from it resonating in the cab at 65-75 for the past 800 miles! The odd part is, Its horrible on the driver side, but not too bad on the passenger side I'm baffled, I really need to get either a turn down, or a "turn-up" hehehehe
Well, I'll be back on monday afternoon! I'm really not in the mood to get back into a Willow Run truck after my last run (long story)

Yup, I saved the blocks and you're welcome to 'em. The ubolts didn't survive the ordeal, however, so we'll have to measure yours first. Nice lookin trailer! Now go to work and make some money for that pyro!

lets see, the trailer is 12K rated, spent....... just a touch over 4 with options! 2 5/16 ball of course. I was quite happy when I found out the stock rear bumper had a 1 inch center hole for the ball I needed, other wise ita been maybe 16 MPG empty and 12 maybe 13 loaded, in a 04 GMC 2500HD 6.0, auto for 800 miles! My ear drums might have thanked me for it, but, I love my dually way too much.
Oh that shiney tailgate, original equipment with next to no miles mated to the truck itself! hehehehe literally pinky open and shut!
Thanks for savin those blocks for me Greg, they will help out soooo much when I get a hitch on her. Ive got to lift that truck at least 2 inches!
Still going through the axle break in period on the trailer so I guess that isnt too bad, and I was kind of holding speed on those hills too, sometimes excelerating (stupid freaking morons pullin big U-haul trailers with an S-10 blazer loaded to the gills, pass me on the downhill, then slow me up with traffic at the bottom of the next up-hill, I think the smoke cloud, and pipe I left em the last time I saw em gave them a hint!) hehehe
