Tach Question
I just got an Auto Meter #2888 tach, it looks pretty simple to hook up, but I was curious on how exactly to calibrate it so it is accurate. I was thinking of just revving the engine to the governor which I think is 2700, correct me if I am wrong, and calibrate it like that. Any suggestions?

That might work, or you could adjust the idle so the mirror shakes and adjust the tach to 750. The most accurate way would be to find someone with an optical tach or buy one to calibrate it.

Yea if I could find somebody with an optical tach that would be nice but I have no idea where to find one and I am to poor to buy something that I would just use once. The idle thing is a good idea and I thought that myself at first, but the directions say not to calibrate it that way because it is not that accurate.

Well, I got it installed and calibrated it at the governor (2700rpm) and when I let off the throttle it went to 750rpm at idle, so I think it is calibrated pretty close.
hippie (KE5DXI),
Wish I could give ya a call on 6 meter but the only 6 meter rig or HF rig I have is my Icom 706mkIIG that is in my vehicle, and I only use it for 2 meter most of the time since I haven't gotten around to getting an antenna for any other bands yet, and all my spare money seems to go into the truck most of the time!!!
