tach output

does anyone know what the first gens output for a tach signal?
sine wave, square wave?? one pulse per revolution??
any help would be great

hey-Hey!!!,
Put a 'scope on it. If I had one I'd do it for you( no tach signal on either ov mine ). If there is somebody in SE Michigan who'd bring one over that would work too.

anyone else?? if i had to guess I would say a sine wave...

Isn't that CPS nothing more than a normally open on/off magnetic proximity switch?

There is 2 notches in the balancer that trigger it I think.

im thinking, im going to be able to build a simple circuit that would allow a gas tach work with our trucks... has anyone done this yet??

dakota digital offers a box where you can use any tach,I think it's about 70.00 though.
