super heavy duty dodge frames

Has anyone seen the dodge chassis frames from the late 70's with the immense reinforcements. I have one that is a stretch frame, 2 wheel drive. I'm gonna use a donor first gen engine, body and all to build a super heavy duty rig. Just wondering what kind of an option it was.

I know the military used a good portion of Dodge vehicles back in those years, not sure if they made a HD option to include the military or not.

I know in the late 70's on the 10,000lb cab and chassis it was available. They basicaly paralelled the frame (side bye side/face to face).I have only seen it on long wb's though (163")

I recall all the advertisements for the "Ram" pickup and the frames being super strong. I dunno, I can say the curved bottom rail on my 95 sucks cause it fills up with mud and sand and rusts the frame.

The frame on mine has a 5/16 thick rivoted and welded reinforcement that is about 11" in the web and 3" in the flange. Extends from the front of the cab and goes back to about 3 ft behind the cab. Then it has some stamped pieces welded into the frame that extends up to the center of the engine. It is the strongest frame I have ever seen and is most certainly factory. A good friend has one on a 4 x 4 1980 136 " wheelbase, mine is 1979 166" I guess. I wish I could post a pic of it, it truly is unique. Both of ours are chassis cabs 10000 GVW.

Yout exactly right its inverted on the frame. But they did have it on the regular wheel base also, like my buddies. Love your crew cab dually, thats exactly what I want to do to mine. Could you send some pics of it to me? Just have to find a crew cab shell. I also have a 1951 cj3a that I got in highschool. Has a 151 chevy, T18, power steering, brakes, powerlock front and lock right rear. First car I ever owned, still have it.

Off subject,
Where did you get your white face gauges?
Are they overlays or complete faces?
Thanks Jim.
