Stock automatic horsepower rating?

How much is the most horsepower and torque that i could push safely through a stock transmission with OD, without harming anything internally on the transmission, A rough estimate is fine?

That question is hard to answer, it all depends on several factors; how you drive, what you use the truck for-i.e. do you tow and if so how much, how well the transmission was maintained, etc. etc. What i recommend is that you decide what power level you will be happy at, get your truck there and upgrade the transmission as the need arises. My '93 had a banks power pack (on it when i bought it), straight pipe, and a couple of turns on the fuel screw, 120* on the diaphragm, a bunch of clicks of the star wheel, and the wastegate blocked closed and with a stock 518 it would hang second gear til it defueled. I really needed a converter and valvebody at minimum.

Hughes makes a pretty good torque converter and I only had to spend about $350 including the shipping expenses. At the time that I bought it, I needed to remove the stock converter and send it to them, as they did not have any cores to rebuild.

Not sure about the best valve body.

i am about to do the same and i am about to use a trans-go TFOD , its just a shift kit, no valvebody, but its only $66 from summit. so you get what im gettin at compared to about $350-400 for a valvebody. it will do most of the same stuff as a valvebody, just with fewer options.
