sticky steering wheel
I just got a new to me 92 Dually that the steering wheel is nasty sticky to touch.
Anyone have a way to clean these up?
I never had any luck doing this before, so I was wondering if anyone had a way to clean the goo off.

My '90 and my old '78 both have that, and my 2003 Ram is starting to get it in one small spot where I always have my steering hand, too. I think it's because the outer layer of whatever that material is wears off. I dunno if there's anything you can do about it, I tried "cleaning it off" but it's not a seperate substance.

That stuff is like Pine tar on a Louisville slugger!
My Dakota does the same thing (leather wrapped from factory) and I just use a warm soapy sponge about 15 times and it's good to go!
Good luck!

Clean the wheel with GOOP or similar degreaser hand cleaner. Most of the "stickey stuff" is oil and dead skin cells from your hands stuck to teh wheel wnd you feel itwhen its humid or wet.
GOOP or similar cuts it real well and wont harm teh wheel.Simple Green works well too.........
I've onlhy owned one "new" truck in my life, and almost every used truck or car has been that way whenI got it, so I have cleaned a few of them ....

I just threw a cover on it on my way home from buying it. My 71 Duster had some sticky that would not go away. Guess its a Mopar thing that there is a layer of sticky under the outside layer of steering wheel.
