Steering/ Deeath wobble ?

Need some ideas/ help. My truck has always had good steering and brakes until a week ago and then it started acting up. The truck has started randomly having a very bad wobble or shake at low speed like when I just take off in the morning. It's like the steering wheel is moving from left to right, left to right. If I hold the steering wheel straight I can watch the front of the truck move back and forth. It's bad enough that I have to pull over and sit for a minute and then go again and it's gone. At highway speed the truck feels fine.

Could this problem be steering gearbox, king pins, power steering pump ?

I have checked all tie rods etc. and all are tight. Hubs are new and bearings have been repacked. Any ideas will help. Again it only happens when starting out and at slow speeds.

Thanks for any info

mine is similar, I assume it is classic 'death Wobble", and most likely king pins for me, as I have replaced most other things... checking tire pressure and steering box first, of course...

Is there any way to check a steering box ? The bracket is crack free and frame is fine. It really feels like its steering related since it is only at slow speeds(under 10mph) haven't tried to go faster once it starts going back and forth you have to stop. Is there a valve that could go bad in the gear box ?

very well could be a tight outer u-joint on one of the front axles. next time try locking the hubs and see if the problem goes away or gets less, if so it`s prob one of the outer u-joints.

Sometimes a broken belt in the tire(s) will cause this as well...

Try rotating the tire front to back and see if anything changes.
How do you like the Suncoast converter?

Well I finally got my problem fixed after installing and tring a few things. It ended up being the steering gear box. I put in new kingpin bushings and springs, rotated the tires, checked the brakes, nothing worked until the gear box. So all is good now.

Thanks for all the replys

Mine was a little slop in the tie rod ends. It would shake at around 40 and it was bad bad. People coming the other way would slow down and move over. It must have looked terminal from there perspective. It would only do it once and a while and I had to have a slight load on the truck.
