Steering box plate
I have searched the country and there are supposedly no more steering box plates Part# 52037876. Does anyone know where one might be that I could buy. I have welded mine twice now and would like to have one in the wings for the next break. Thanks

I just got 2 of them in the last couple of week from the dealer here. One is on the truck and I have a back up. Gone no more warehouse is empty and will have no more. I called a dealer in North Dakota today and his is spoken for looks and it looks like it was the last one.

If you are running stock tires you should locate the CAST iron steering box mount and install the REVERSE rotation steering box. They engineered that weak, funky plate as a patch to allow 4wd trucks to run a 2wd Steering box to save cost by streamlining parts between the two types of trucks. That box stresses the frame in the correct stronger direction and the mount will never break.

Here is the set up on the truck: I run this stock original setup on both my 1974 Ram Charger and 1972 W200.

Same but cast on left.

I don't have the part numbers handy. Look in the junk yard for a 4wd truck '72-77 and it will have this setup.
There is a '72 W200 sitting in the Rancho Pick N Pull right now...

Guys, this is terrible news. I just phoned my friend in the Parts Dept at my local Dodge dealer and his computer is showing none of these plates remaining in the US. There were several thousand available just a few months ago and my parts man agrees with me -- for so many to have disappeared so quickly, someone must have bought the entire cache with the intent to resell. He is now trying to get further info on who might have acquired them.
I will post more information when I have it.

That plate is an engineering "hack" that allows you to use a 2wd steering box for a 4wd truck. A vital steering component/structure that fails this often should not be replaced but rather reworked into a better option.
Such as these two fine options:
1.) Install the stock factory original Reverse rotation box and cast iron mounting plate from '72-78 trucks
2.) Report to the crossover steering with 0-2" lift thread
