Steel bulkhead fitting/ stock fuel tank

The #10 (-10AN) steel bulkhead fittings I got from a local shop didn't come with any washers like I've seen in Summit and Jeg's catalogs. I've since been told I'm supposed to have washers between the bulkhead fitting and nut. Question, do I need to use some type of plastic or metal washer? One on each side of the fuel tank wall, inside and out? I did ask the shop and they said they didn't have anything that would fit. Where should I go to find what I need? Thanks.

I would say that your best bet would be to use a copper washer on the inside and out. Most bulk head fittings I have seen always come with the washers including at my local hose and fittings shop

When i bought one of them for my Cuda return fuel system it came with the two gaskets.....and it sealed1
are you trying to put the bulkhead fitting tru the fuel tank?

if so isn't it plastic?

Yep #10 bulkhead for supply, #8 bulkhead for return. Both steel fittings, into the top of the plastic tank. I figure I'll take the fittings to a local Ace Hardware store and find me some big flat washers.

I'm not sure I'll have to take a look at them. I'm not sure about needing support either. I just don't want any fuel or air leaks.

so how are you going to atach the fitting? just punch a hole in the bottom of the tank for feed line and one in the top for the return?.....or.....

Going to drill into the top of the tank for both bulkheads supply and return. I got my regulator, pump and filter head bolted up, but haven't done the fuel tank portion yet.

Are you going to us the original tank modual with bigger lines in side or drill stright thru the tank and make new module?

The sender assembly will remain there for fuel level and injector and injection pump return fuel (stock return line). The regulator I'm using is a bypass style, so thats what the second -8 bulkhead fitting is for. Will have a new -10 pickup tube attached to the -10 bulkhead. With me now?

The two stock lines will still be attached to the sending unit. I might have to figure out a way to block off the stock suction line so I don't get any air in the system. For now I've got a bolt clamped in the end that used to be attached to the lift pump. The stock drain line will remain in place and be used to drain the injectors and injection pump.

I will have a new suction line -10 attached to a bulkhead in top the fuel tank, not within the sender, then routed to an electric fuel pump. Then I will have a -8 line from the bypass regulator all the way back to drain in the fuel tank through the other bulkhead fitting a -8 fitting. -6 fuel hose from regulator to new -6 fitting in the injection pump. I thought I was the one asking the questions . You writing a book? LOL.. jk.

Ya! it called how to make 700 hp and 1200 pounds of twist from a VE pump!

Chapter 2
from one of you pevious post you are going to feed to line to pump, one for the pump and one for the timing right!

If this is true, then heres my thought. if you put your large bulk head, in the tank mod(replaceing the origanal feed line)and added a 2nt reg(#8 insteed of #6 out of th first reg) with a y for the 2nt reg and feed the pump and the timing from the same in tank pump!
One less feed line out of the tank and one more return line form the 2nt reg!
this would req you puting the pump in the tank module.
am i nut or is this somthing to chew on

What kind of pressure and volume is this pump to produce?

I'm no expert by any means, I'm trying to learn this as I go along. So therefore I don't know what you are talkin about. If you contemplating 500rwhp, you need to get rid of the tiny stock fuel pickup in the tank and go with at least a 1/2" / 10AN pickup. The flow rate on this A1000 fuel pump says 600lb/hr at 45psi at 13.5V. Bypass regulator 3-15psi adjustable base pressure, with a linear boost reference.

I'm only gonna have one suction/feed line from the tank. One line to the pump, not sure what you mean by one line for the timing.
