Leave it alone?

It sounds like it was set pretty low to begin with and now you've got it jammed down at the bottom. It won't hurt anything until you get big injectors.

When I went to turn the starwheel down it only clciked twice and wouldn't budge. I didn't want to try and turn it any more because it seemed like I was going to damage the starwheel (guess I was right). The only thing I can assume is that it had already been turned almost to the bottom. I just left it. I think the starwheel just acts as a "false" bottom that you can raise up and down to limit the ride of the fuel pin. Don't think a few mashed teeth will cause a problem. We'll let the "guru's" weight in and both learn something most likely.

how would having large injectors hurt it?

With big injectors you want to run the star wheel up near the top to cut down on smoke.

the starwheel adjusts the tension of the spring that the fuel pin/cone rides on. turning the starwheel down (clockwise) decreases the tension and up (counter-clockwise) will increase tension. it's an adjustment for more low-boost fueling. with stock injectors you can run it down and couple turns or to the bottom and not smoke too bad but once you upgrade to larger injectors, you'll want to run the starwheel up. the injectors will increase the low-boost fueling for you.

Well, run it back up and back out the smoke screw and you won't have to be so gentle.
