starter solenoid

Hey guys. My solenoid has become intermitent in the last two to three weeks. Just a click. If I pop to hood and lightly tap the solenoid it will fire right up. The starter motor itself seems fine. Going to pull it and clean everything. Does anyone have part #'s for brushes and contacts? Are they available through a Cummins dealer or aftermarket? Thanks.

Larry Buck carries the parts that you are looking for.

I had the same problem but caught it before everything got real bad in there. All mine took was a good cleaning of the contacts and some dieletric grease. If this doesnt work, like AIK mentioned, go with Larry B's starter contacts. They are better than stock.

UPDATE- pulled the starter this morning. Cleaned the contacts and plunger with a file to even everything up. Re-installed and all is well after a dozen starts. Looked like the original unit; had a Chrysler sticker on it. Also looked like the contacts in Larry Buck's picture. About a half inch wide.
