Standard, or Severe Duty Brake Pads

I need to replace the pads on my truck. I'm thinking about the severe duty pads vs. the standard. Does any one have any experience on the subject? I don't like the cheap squealing pads. Thanks, Tony

I put the bendix ones on my truck, from advance, the regular one, not the ones for fleet service,
According to bendix, they are a harder compund, to last longer, I would rather burn pads out than rotors,
I am happy with them so far.

Go to autozone and get either the morse ceramic pads or the PFC carbon metallic pads. The morse pads are $37 I believe.

pads

be careful with your selection, go oem premium, your thoughts about upgrade are correct with wear, too much heat, rotor gone or vibrating from meltdown

I got the ceramics from autozone and I like them. I have only had them on for a thousand miles or so but they seem good.

I know from the past I don't like the cheap pads. They get dust all over the place, and they squeal. I like the quiet pads. I'm just wondering if the severe duty are going to be more to what I need. I tow 99% of the time. I just don't want to get the severe duty and them squeal like the cheapies do. Thanks for the help, Tony

Well the ceramics will better suit you for towing then. They won't disintegrate under high heat or lose stopping power when they're hot.

That helps me a lot, and it makes sense. I now have a question though what are the severe duty pads for? Stop, and go city driving, or for people that stand on the brake pedal? Thanks again guys, Tony
