Stage 2, stage 3, ?
You guy's keep mentioning the htt stage 2 and 3 turbo's for your truck's. I have the htbg on mine right now, and getting ready to put on the htb2. what are these stage 2 and 3 turbo's that you are using.

As far as I can tell just from what I've seen on the HTT web site they offer a "up grade service" for your stock wh1c to get a little better spollup and boost, make the compressor more efficient and so forth. I don't know what the benefits are for that route besides laying down a whole lot of dough right off the bat versus a little at a time over time. Jethrro

The 'stages' folks are refering to are various compressor wheel sizes that HTT offers for the H1 and HX center sections. The higher the stage, the bigger the wheel (and housing to match). It's basically a hybrid, like a 35/40 or, in my case, it will be an H1C/E. Wannadiesel (and others) know more about this than me, but that's the gist. As for comparison to other turbos (HTBG etc) I'm not really sure, but I don't think they're playing in the same ball game.

O.K. I was just wondering if I was looking at a complete different turbo all together. or were these turbo's about the same as the htbg or htb2 and so on, all the way to the sled puller.

I don't think too many people here know much about the htbg or the htb2, you should go ask this question in the 1st and 2nd gen forum. I think that these are the turbo's people use in twin setups usually as the smaller turbo??

From what I hear the htbg has a 58mm compressor wheel. The htb2 can have either a 62 or 64mm compressor wheel. I do believe the htt stage 3 is a 60mm wheel. But with the htbg, and htb2 I'm sure you get the bigger turbine wheel and true 4" exhaust outlet/downpipe. So its gonna flow more air.

I upgraded my baby H1C to a stage 4 upgrade from HTT. The stage 4 upgrade is not shown on the website but it consists of a 61mm wheel (6 blade versus 8 balde stage 3) and flows a lot more air then the baby H1C . When upgrading to the stage 4 setup there is some machine work to be done on the backplate that doesn't need to be done on the stage 2 and stage 3.
I'm not sure how it flows compared to the HTBG, but i imagine it would be fairly close????

Thank's guy's, you answered my question. when I went with the htbg, I did'nt even know about the other turbo's.and yes the htbg and so on do have the true 4 inch exhaust. but the htbg does'nt flow enough air for the fuel that I am pushing. so I am going to the htb2.

I was running the HTB2 64/14 as a single turbo for about six months on my 91 and really liked it. There was a little lag that I had to get used to, but what do you expect when your previous turbo was an H1C/12. That turbo moves a good bit of air and I think you will like it.

Thank's N.M.P, I hope that I do like it. The only problem is the waiting game. they are so far behind on orders, the last gentleman that I talked to said there was 89 people waiting for the htb2.

I know someone that has a brand new HTB2 64 that he is looking to sell. If you are interested, pm me and I can give you his name and number as well as what he is asking for the turbo.
