Spuddding noise & water temp???
Took a trip over the the 4th and pulled our fifth wheel to the North Georgia Mountains. This was the first long trip we took with the new camper. Camper weighs around 11,000 lbs.
Everthing worked great truck did a good job. Did have two small problems.
On hard up hill pulls I would hear a spudding noise while pulling the fifth wheel. Sounds like air blowing out. Only does it while pulling the fifth wheel on long hard up hill grades. Doesn't do it on level ground or normal highway driving.
Also while pulling the fifth wheel on up hill grades or running on level ground at 70 mph the water temps rises to about 1/2 to 3/4 ways of the stock gauge. Never had it read that hot before. Once I back out of it and run along at 60 or 65 the temp drops back.
Any suggestion on what to check for both problems...Thanks

What turbine housing are you running? Sounds like it could be a turbo surge.
Did you ever hear the fan clutch engage when the engine got hot? If not, reach down between the fan and radiator and rub the front of the clutch. Look at your fingers - if they have oily goo on them it's time for a new fan clutch.
If you heard the clutch kick in: How old is the radiator? If it's original to the truck that is likely the problem.

I'll check the fan clutch, I believe it was working.
I had the same thought about the radiator, it may need a good cleaning. I can only guess it is the original....I've had the truck now for about 5 years and never done anything to the radiator or fan...
Only other thing is I never did get over 15 psi boost during the whole trip...No matter how hard I pushed it...I was thinking more towards the intercooler/hoses my be leaking.

I've been looking and everything I find is 3" long. Was just wondering why the stock boots are 4" long and all of the replacements boots online are 3" long....Can anybody answer that one??

On my friends truck i replaced his and the new ones were 3 inch and seemed work fine. Also when you put em on spray a bit of belt dressing on them before sliding on. It keeps them from blowing off, if you dont have any belt dressing steal the wifes hair spray.
