Speedo & Odometer
Hey all, just pulling a trailer full of logs the past 2 days, man I love the power the Cummins engine gives me. If only I wasn't so scared of the automatic behind it. My problem is that when I pushed the button to reset the trip meter, the odometer/trip meter quite working all together, I was ******. So, I got done with the run, pulled the bezel off & pull the speedo gauge out. Now let me add this real quick, my speedo works, the odometer does not. So, there are 3 poles that the speedo gauge plugs into, top show 14 volt, middle shows 8volts when the tires are spin, & bottom shows nothing which I assume it is a ground. Can anybody tell me what post is intended for what?
As for the speedo, I took it apart & found a small blue gear, no biger than a 1/2" had a tooth broke off. So, when I put the gear back in at a different location, the odometer works for a tenth or so of a mile. My conclusion is when the gear comes up to the broken tooth, it stops all together, cause there is nothing to mesh too. What do ya'll think? New speedo or find one in the junkyard?
