Angry Spedo Question

OK Guys,

Here it is...I got my odometer rebuilt a few years back and it has been working great no trouble, however I went to jump into my truck today and both the speedometer and odometer are finished. Is there a way to test the VSS, can you buy a new VSS? Anything else I should check? I have checked the connections under my truck since I have a gear vendor, which is where the truck gets its rotation now. Anyway please chime in with any ideas, I have done a search but didn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks a bunch!!!!

No idea about your specific problem, sorry. But you can get new VSS from several different vendors. Here's one...

DELPHI Part # SS10260

Perfect! I was worried that you couldn't get one anymore. Is this one specifically for our trucks? Are they the same for 4x4 and 2wd?

You have a 4X4. A common fail point is the ratio adapter that sits between the transfer case and VSS. Unscrew it from the transfer case and see if the little square drive pin has broken off.

Now that I have the part number can this be ordered through any major parts house, such as autozone, checkers, napa, ect? Also is there any way to test it?

Is this the square piece that sits in the T-Case? If it is evidently broken can these still be sourced or am I screwed?

Thanks for the help guys

Yes, the little square piece between the VSS and transfer case. They are available through different sources. Look for numbers on the adapter that will tell you what the ratio is. You can buy them online from the "PACT" http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm look about 3/4 of the way down the page. I order mine from http://www.gilmoredist.com/

Sweet, however the second link didn't work for me. I will check mine out and see if that is the problem.

They moved, here is their new address: http://www.gilmore-global.com/
They don't have a catalog on line, just call them and tell them what you want. Sense they make them, they can make them in just about any ratio you need.
