Some ??'s for the more knowledgable!

Folks I need some help. My battery is not any good....second time in about 3 yrs. It's a Duralast Gold from Autozone. Could it be the truck? Or trashy batteries?

The left front tire is leaning in at the top....sometimes more than others. One fella told me the upper (something...can't think of the name) is adjustable. What causes the wheel to lean in as mine is?

Thanks, Tony

The voltmeter in the dashboard is for keeping track of the health of your electrical system. Is it running high, low, varies, or what?

If your front wheel is leaning in noticeably from worn parts, yer close to losing it altogether. Go for it, it's real exciting.

Well to be a little more specific we need to know a few things
#1 Is it charging like it should ? Oughta be about 13.5 volts and probably not much more then 14
#2 Do you have a drain on your battery ?
#3 Have you had the battery load tested ?
Most of the chain parts stores will check that stuff for free
As far as the lean goes jack it up grab a pry bar and see where the lean is comin from (usually lean means loose) so do some pryin with the tire off the ground to see where its comin from. Could be king pins, bearings or god forbid the old not so tight lug nuts. either way dont drive it anymore till you figure it out!!!! One of us might be meeting you from the other direction and I'd hate to see 2 trucks swappin paint

I used to go thru batts every couple of years. I was buying the cheap parts house batts then I went to our local tractor dealer and bought a 1100cca douglas gold batt it lasted 8 years just replaced it last week with another cheap one I had no choice I was stranded. But it was 1100cca

On a D250 2wd truck the inside lean could be one of a few different problems. Could be the upper control arm bushings, or the upper ball joint...those control the lean of the tire.

DO as suggested...jack up the offending front wheel and push/pull and twist/turn manually and listen for a clunk or other odd noises. Then have someone else move the tire and see if you can spot where the noise is coming from.

duralast batteries are junk

go to batteries plus and ask for a good battery with VENTS! my buddy has worked there for years and highly recommends the vented rayovac batteries. I had 2 in my 03 for two years with zero leaks but then sold the truck. The truck I have now has the same batteries you do and they are weak and leak.

Being a D series probably popped the upper ball joint out of the A-arm pretty common problem. Thread a new ball joint back in it and tack weld it in there so it wont do it again. On the battery thing 2 batteries in three yrs. is not that bad, check elect. system as suggested and buy the batteries that offer 3 yr free replacement. Or go with 2 batteries, which I have done. Its hard to find the big batt. required for running 1 so I went with 2 been working good since.
