Some one want to give me a history lesson

Type of pumps and years they were put on?
Turbo and years they were put on?

Just wanting to know a little history of my beloved trucks if you can help a slow man that would be great!

89-93 was the ve pump. 94-98.5 was the p-pump. 99-02 was the vp44 and 03-present is the cp3. 89-93 the turbos are all h1c's but some had diff exhaust houseings. second gen they used the hx35 and 40. third gens are the he351cw and another vareation of the 351 i believe, dont remember what it was called. pretty sure this is right if not someone will correct me and and fill in what i missed.

89-91= Bosch VE Pump...... H1C turbo's. 89-91 had 18.5cm exh. housings, 91.5-92 had 21cm housings, 93 went back to 18.5cm housing

94-98= Bosch P7100 Injection Pump...... 94 was the WH1C turbo w/12cm housing. 95-98 is the HX35 w/12cm housing. (some 95's still have a WH1C, most i've seen have the HX35)

98.5-02= Bosch VP44 pump (electronic)........01-02 Automatic trucks had the HY35 turbo w/9cm housing, 98.5-99 Auto trucks and all 98.5-02 manual trans trucks had the HX35 w/12cm housing.

03-04= Bosch CP3 Injection pump........Holset HE341cw turbo

04.5-07 (HO 5.9L)= Bosch CP3 pump.......Holset HE351cw turbo w/9cm housing

07.5-Present 6.7L= Bosch CP3 Pump.......Holset HE351ve turbo (sometimes know as VGT, Variable geometry turbine)

There he is folks, DTR's very own Wikipedia! I bet you didn't even have to think about it either. Wish I had a memory like that!

In addition to Brandon's post, '89-'91 h1c's, aka the baby h1c's, also have a 50mm comp. wheel. The '91.5-'93 h1c's have a 54mm (?) comp. wheel.

Very good info Crossy's.
Now the question is-which turbo would I want to replace the one on my '93?
I've read all the talk of this number, that number etc. I just want to know what donor I'm looking for to rob the turbo off toput onto my '93 to get the EGT's down a little.

That's because the automatics didn't get the HY-35 9cm until 01 model year. 98.5- 2000 were all the HX 35 12cm.

Thanks son,just what I needed.
With all the numbers out there I was gettin' bad confused trying to figure out what "donor" I'd need.
You've cleared that big ol' mess I call a mind up.
Thanks,

Agreed, but not simply a bolt on process. There are several (albeit relatively easy) things to do to get the HE351cw on:

A.) 4" Downpipe with a flat faced, 4" inlet to the DP
B.) Drill out 2 bottom flanged holes on the HE351 (they are tapped, just drill out same size as top ones
C.) Remove turbine and compressor housings, grind a little alignment pin on the exhaust side, and clocking (rotating) the housings so they match the stock H1C.
D.) Finagle your intercooler piping slightly since the elbow off the compressor is not out as far as the stock H1C's clamped on discharge elbow
-or, leave the elbow straight up in the air, and make a whole new intercooler piping, eliminating problem E.
E.) Figure another way to use the wastegate since with a clocked compressor housing, the wastegate has no mount. A simple heavy spring pulling on the wastegate will work, and the gate will open now with exhaust pressure.
F.) Longer studs for the turbo flange would be nice, mine luckily came with 2 and I oddly had 2 more off an Hy35 I had kicking around.

Any turbo removed should get a new turbo flange gasket (about $5) and a new oil return gasket.

Hx35 will be BOLT on, except maybe the turbo outlet? Flows better than the H1C, but not a drastic improvement (I'm told).

I believe Jack Roush was the first to put a Cummins in a Dodge. There's some history for ya.

Side note: Jack Roush crash landed his plane at EAA Oshkosh airshow in Oshkosh Wisconsin a few weeks ago. He walked out of his plane, even though he lost his eye! Oshkosh is less than an hour from me. Only reason I know this. lol

Back on topic.
