Locks only keep honest people from stealing. If they want you fancy things inside the truck, they will take them no matter what kind of locks or windows you have. The sound of breaking glass isn't as loud at one may think. Ever try and rip a radio out of a dash without tools??? not so easy, even with my stubbornness.

is there any place you can get a slider new? i had one but it leaked so i replaced it with a solid one and had planned on trying to seal the slider but it got broken when an older man sat on it while he was talking to my dad at the shed ? i looked at the junk yard but they only had aftermarket ones and i want one that will fit in the factory rubber like i had.

The aftermarket ones do fit in the factory rubber. I put one in my '85 gasser about 8 years ago back before I got my '93. Cost about $120, took half an hour with one helper.

It took 2 different styles at the same time to unlock all those little clips
Also i noticed that there are two different style rubber trims. The one for the solid glass, and one for factory slider glass. The factory slider apears to be 5/8" thick while the solid glass is just under 1/4. There is also a rubber lock ring on the newer style gasket that makes it a lot easier to remove. The older style(kind i re-used) is a little more rigid and harder to install/remove.
Make sure if you get an aftermarket one it should have a thin lip around the edge that will set in just like the old solid piece did. Otherwise you are going to need a different gasket.

It takes 30 seconds to REMOVE it!!
I have done it before to get my keys out of MY truck.
BTW . . .that was using a table knife to boot.

Factoid:
If you have a cargo light and a factory installed slider, the slider glass from an '89-'91 will only replace an '92-'93 slider IF you trim the gasket to clear the cargo lamp.
The cargo lamp is placed higher up on the '89-'91 trucks, ergo the gasket is wider.
It works fine the other way around, no mods necessary.
Guess how I found out?
Mark.
