which side is the steep side???
I was lookin at the ecentric pin thingy, which side is the steep side on i cant tell. i got it back the way it came after i took out the afc spring.

The easiest way to tell is to hold it up and look at it while you rotate it. Whichever side looks to have the deepest cut is the side you want towards the front.

When you look at it from the side, holding it up and down, you'll see the cone is not symetrical. One side is "steeper" than the other. Closer to being parrallel to the pin itself. The steep side will also have more distance between the edge of the base and the bottom of the cone. When you find this steep side, that's the side you want towards the front of the truck. When you look into the hole it came out of, you'll see where the fuel pin come out to ride against this steep side..... clear as mud?

My original (factory) pump said 75. The take-off pump I bought (it was CAT yellow) also had a 75. My brand new bosch reman has a 75...I guess they're all just 75's

seems there are several # for the pins my 90 has a 40 s0mething on it been too long since i had it out.. lots of luck finding out what they mean. pump people wont talk about it.

I still cant see the steep side, I know im blind, i have a tic mark on mine where do i put that in relation to the radiator. i made a mark but its worn off i might just go back to stock. Btw what will happen to my fuel mileage?

If you put the ACF spring back in mileage will go up. Them durn kids with their smoky souped up diesels...
Maybe the problem is that you are looking for a steep side and not a deep side? The taper looks the same all around the cone, it's just that the taper is ground off center on the pin.
If you don't use the extra fuel that rotating the fuel pin makes available, fuel economy will not change. The engine only uses the amount of fuel you feed it. If you habitually floor it every time, rotating the cone will hurt economy. If you drive normally, you will only use that fuel when you step on it hard.

If WOT = giant looming cloud of choking death, then green light = WOT only when the jerk behind you has been following so close you can't see his headlights.

Look at the under side of the afc and you will see another "tick" mark.
On mine this one is the deep side, this goes toward the front of the engine.
Take a look at the pic below for more tips
NOTE: There is a plastic spacer under the afc diaphram that is NOT shown in the drawing.
I left mine out, some have shaved .090 off etc, etc, it's up to you. I colored mine with a magic
marker and ran it a while to see how much travel it had.
