Shut down solenoid
My shut down solenoid seems to be sticking in the on position sometimes. I am also having some running problems and power loss. I'm not sure yet if it's related to the solenoid, but I'm going to take it out and have a look.
I read sometime back that the shutdown solenoid on the VE is the same as one from an older volkswagon diesel, and that you can buy it much cheaper than going to cummins. Is this true? How much should one cost?

sounds like a bad solenoid you can get them at napa. mine cost $90 buck but i had to have it now. when you take the old one out look for metal shavings on it or it could just be bad . there is a bracket on the back of the pump that gets in the way of using a wrench to take it out if you need to it can be cut off to get the sol. out. its the same solenoid VW use
