You also have to consider what you are going down there for. If you can afford to be a day or 2 late then drive cuz if ya do break its gonna take time. But if you gotta be on time............fly

I just got back from Ft. Lauderdale last week.

Atlantic City to Ft. Lauderdale was $42 each way, including 1 bag. $84

Renting a car for 8 days while I was down there cost $132

Parking was $75 for the 8 days.

Total of $~$280, plus fuel to get to Atlantic City...and that's staying for 8 days.

That drive sucks. Sure, one way it's fine, but driving all the way down there and thinking about having to drive back could ruin the entire trip.

I'd fly.

I my self am a driving man. I love the sight of the country and the feel of a good long drive........
But that is coming from a Marine who has spent enough time flying on
KC-130J around Gods green earth.

Cost of drive more but experance is worth it.
Driving a Cummins......Priceless

My buddy and i are goin down for spring break, straight shot and we are going to a friends beach house! But $500 each for plane tickets...thats enough to make me not want to go.

Doing the worst fuel mileage i ever got i should make it on just over 2.5 tanks, but even 3 tanks would be less than 1 ticket down there ($317) ($124 return)

The more i think about it...I'm driving

Well, some other thing to consider:

Flying: Layover is nothing when the plane hits turbulence and get you behind 2hrs.
Weather dictates flying
TSA hassle
Lost luggage hassle
General theft

Driving: Pay for AAA, it has helped MANY TIMES!
By doing the above suggestion, you can avoid most things
Parts breaking on a 20 year old truck
Barney Fifes
Theft of truck (Has not happened to me personally)
Fuel prices STILL going UP
Construction

All of these I have experienced...

Planes won't fly in bad weather, trucks are made for it. You pick.

I would fly down. Easier and better to spend more time in the warmer temps and save the wear and tear on your truck. either way, have fun and be safe

Yes, a single CAN of soda on AA was $1. Food was anywhere from $2 for peanuts to $5 for a SMALL sandwich. Champagne and wine were more...

Yes you can, but they're blue in color, and you pay twice as much per toll.

I have them in all my trucks, including my 15,000 lb box truck. You just have to pay more, and have a commercial account.

Not really sure about the personal account restrictions.

Good point about the rest of the ride, although when I was in FLA, there were tolls all over the place.... but I was a passenger and it didn't cost me a penny !

I'll add one more...

If you get a seat, that was recently sat in by someone with bed bugs, you can bring them home with you, for no extra charge !

Imagine that.... you get something for free besides a half of sandwich made from imitation turkey and a bag of chips !

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_828529.html

Woo Hoo !

Hell, I don't even want to sleep in a hotel anymore..... First it was crabs, now it's bed bugs.... What a tangled web of life we lead....
