Shortbed Crewcab Dually?

I'm getting ready to start the cummins conversion on my shortbed 81 Dodge Crewcab. I have always wanted a dually, so I was debating making mine a dually. Has anyone ever build a shortbed crewcab dually? Just wondering how it would look? Maybe a photoshop or actual picture? I can stretch the frame and put an 8 ft. box on it, but just wanted to see what a shorbed one would look like. thanks, andrew...

I think you will have a hard time with the wheel well lip it folds in on a dully box. Unlike a GM that you can cut and bolt on over the box.
Dodge is inder the box skin.

No, I've never seen one. I am planning on doing a 5 1/2 foot box and crew cab on my club cab as soon as I find a good 4 door cab. I to think it would look great! Do it

Have you seen one of the new mega cab dually trucks? I've rolled that idea around myself after they made the mega cabs the fenders resemble each other to me. I think they look excellent. If you do it be sure to post pics.

Slicknapier,I am doing the same thing. I already have the rear end and have figured out how to mount the fenders.Do not try to extend the bed or alter it in any way. It will be a P.I.T.A. You can do it if you are good with a torch and body work. The trick is to order a set of fenders from a company that makes dually conversions for non-dually vehicles such as suburban, vans, pick ups etc. They are in Michigan and they actually make a set of fenders for the 1 st. gen. Dodge trucks. They bolt onto the outside of the bed. I will look up the name of the company I have in my data base and get back with you. I have already talked to them and the fenders listed when I talked to them for around $500.00. I will get back with you on the company name. Good luck. When we get ours done we will have to compare notes.

OK! I got it. http://www.arrowcraft.com/index.php Go to website and look at what they have to offer. Wheels, adapters etc. We will need the AF-166 fenders. Give them a call very knowledgeable, nice and helpful bunch of folks. Also you will need a set of dually hubs for the front axles also.

Cool thanks for the info. Not 100% sure what I'm going to. Cummins first then go from there.

You an H-24 Sleeve-valve fan?

The dually would look excellent. I love the look. However, after taking a few home with me from work I decided that I'd much rather admire them from a SRW... It would be a shame to go to all the trouble and discover you don't really like owning them. Get your hands on one for a while and make sure you like living with it. The crew OTOH is just plain nice when you've got to travel with more than one passenger.
cheers.

Napier Saber aircraft engine. Two boxer 12's stacked on top of each other. Sleeve valves instead of poppet style. ~2200 cid and horsepower on par with the Wasp Major at 4360 cid. Absolutely fantastic...though slightly overkill for a Gen 1...heh-heh-heh. Google will get you what ever you'd like to read about it... No running ones left I've found mention of; it is not an easy engine to service anymore.
cheers,
Douglas
