Question shift linkage questions

On my 92 automatic tranny, do the linkage arms just snap into and out of the grommets or is there a trick I need to know? Hate to get to rough and break something. Also there is a cable going to the tranny that is mounted on the emergency brake bracket in a U type clip. Does it just snap out or does it need to be rotated 90 degrees and then snap out?
I am pulling my transmission and the way I understand what I have read is to rotate the motor and remove the converter to torque plate bolts so the converter comes out with tranny. Is the right?

The linkage arms should snap out of the grommets just fine. When you go to put the transmission back in, you may need to re-adjust the linkage though, so if yours is rusted, you might want to get the adjuster freed up. I didn't adjust mine, and it popped into reverse from park a couple times, smashed up a Jeep at the shop pretty bad.

When I removed my transmission I opened up the small inspection cover on the bottom of the bellhousing, exposing the flywheel, and rotated it to access the bolts.

Good luck.
