Check your pump data plate and see if you have the "Omega" symbol on it. It looks like a figure 8 on it's side.
If you don't let me know and I'll fill you in on how to get a FREE safety recall fuel pump if your numbers match up.
I had a runaway last winter and ended up with $4200.00 of free work and parts from Dodge due to the recall not having been done to my truck.

I read that thread before and used those pictures to referance when resealing my pump. But mine never went WOT or climbed like it was possesed. It stuck at 1000RPM's I taped the pedal thinking it was stuck and it hit 2500 or so then started on it's way up. The pull kill I have is connected to the manual kill on the pump. I'm not sure what was that caused it. I went out and took a turn and a half from the fuel screw and now it works fine. not slugish on the was back, no sticking no where. I'm gonna look into this recall deal and see if I cant get mine in there.

i found an old fuel door works awesome for blocking the turbo. it's light and easy to move around, fits the front of the turbo perfectly and will stay there from the vacuum untill the turbo stops without having to hold it. just pop it on and walk away. also fits behind the seat easily. jm2c

That is a really good idea, Daryl. I think I'll attach one near the turbo with a little chain or something. That way, when I start messin with stuff, I'll always know exactly where it is.

If you apply a little too much fuel screw, it will run up to the pumps governed speed and "hang" without truly running away. But you WILL be at max rpm, and it will scare the crap out of you. Happened to me once at a gas station--scariest moment I ever had with the truck. Shutoff lever will shut it off provided you didn't go nuts on the fuel screw. Even a half turn or full turn back and you'll be OK again.

Mine shut off when it started running away when I was turning in the fuel screw with the manual pull lever. I'm thinking most people have not had it actually happen to them and they are repeating what they have read.
However, it is better to be safer than sorry by having the air filter off the turbo and having a 2x6 standing by for emergency shut down... JUST IN CASE.
If the manual kill lever did not stop the shut down, it would suck taking the 7/16" locking nut off the turbo while it's revving 3000+ rpm so you can kill the air.
FYI, mine was not hanging while revving it in neutral, but it would hang when I would have boost going and the fuel pin was down. This was after I backed it down from runaway in the garage in neutral. Be careful fellahs!

I don't just repeat stuff i have heard, and i don't just pull this info out of my a$$. i try to be helpfull and not misleed, because i have been mislead and it ain't fun. when it happened to me i was on my way to work after turnning my screw in, had to call my daughter to open up the barn and get a screw driver and a board and be ready for me when i got there, my truck would go 75 with no peddel.
i tryed my pull cable (nothing), so when i got home i pulled the hood latch while i held both feet on the brake and she took off the hose and blocked off the air with a piece of 3/4 in plywood.
i cranked the screw back in 1 full turn and all is good after 2 yrs of driving.

I keep a clipboard in the truck and the clamp on the air filter loose, just in case. Whether or not I would have the cajones to reach into the engine compartment with the engine spinning 4K is another matter alltogether.
