sealant for fuel fittings

sealant for fuel fittings
I am installing a fuel pressure gauge and don't want to torque the brass fittings so tight they seize or break. But I don't want them to leak either. Is there something like red high temp RTV I can use? Any ideas, comments welcome.

Go to a hardware store, and they will have thread sealant that you can use on fuel lines. I believe it is a white/yellow tube. You will have to read the back instructions to ensure it is good for fuel.

Most sealants do not get along with diesel fuel very well. If anything, I'd just put a bit of anti-seize on the fittings. If you are drilling a banjo, or similar, and using pipe thread the anti-seize will lube the fittings and make them go in and come out easier. Anti-seize will also help seal to some degree, but with NPT you are relying on the deforming of the threads to seal anyway.

I am not that experienced with NPT or other plumbing. NPT works by deforming the threads? I have a Geno's hollowed out banjo bolt with a plug in it that does not come out. It had to be this tight so it wouldn't dribble. Vice grips just shred the top, even in the hands of my pro mechanic next door neighbor. PB Blaster was added from both sides and doesn't help because the square brass head to shreds. Now its "drill and retap" time. Maybe it was just bad luck on this one. But I would like to prevent this on more expensive parts such as my oil psi sending unit...
I noticed that the fitting into the lift pump has some hard red stuff on the threads. I have copper based anti-seeze that I could try and I will look for that thread sealant in the auto parts store.

I've always used a product called P.S.T., which stands for pipe sealant with teflon. It comes in a white tube with red writing most of the time unless you know somewhere that sales zep products and then theres will be white and blue. Its pretty good stuff, I worked at a New Holland dealer for about 5 yrs. and my father is still the service manager there and they use it on alot of stuff.

Yellow Teflon tape is for fuel, natural gas, and gasoline . White tape tends to desolve which results in leaks . Yellow tape can be found at most hardware stores(Ace for one). Specs will be on the roll .

I came across Yellow Teflon tape looking at water heaters. Apparantly its used for propane, natural gas, and petroleum. On my truck I am using Permatex #2 which is rated for diesel, petroleum, etc.
