And the saga continues....

Ok, I did it big time. When I put the old screw back in, I didn't force anything but had a little more resistance than usual. Well I thought a new screw will fix that. So I go 45min away to get this screw for a couple of bucks. I went to put it in the truck and only got in as far as the o-ring. So I lubed it up with vaseline and put it in again to see if it wasn't the o-ring sticking. Well it did the same again. So I pull it out and noticed a silver film. After repeated sessions of cleaning the threads and lubing back up, I started to see metal chucks. Not good. So after I went looking for old tools needed to take the pump top off, (ie Special 6mm allen wrench with the end rounded off for the pesky back screw) I get it off. I look in and sure enough, I mess up about 3-4 threads by looking at it through the hole.

Now my question is, what is the thread size/pitch? I know where I could get it tapped again.

And 2, what should I do while the pump top is off? I think somebody said to grind the AFC foot? What is that?

I appreciate everything you guys are doing, even making me chuckle has helped.

Jon

EDIT: After taking the pump top off I checked for metal shavings and none were present. The end of the threads in the pump top did not have anything either.

See if the place that can tap it for you can heli-coil the hole.

I wouldn't grind the AFC foot if your future plans include big injectors. It's better to just remove it so you can put it back if you need it later.

I agree with Dave on the AFC lever. Mine's ground, and even with the auto and stock IC injectors it smokes quite a bit before the turbo spools. It sounds appealing for a while, but it gets old. I'd just remove the AFC lever and see how you like it.

P.S. I probably won't get to the pulls in Lee County since there is a local one here the same night.

IT IS ALIVE! I tapped it with a 8mmx1.00 pitch. Got the tap at Ace Hardware for $4. Air pressured the hole after putting it under water and drying it.

Heli-coil? Help me with that.

After doing research under grinding the AFC foot, I wont do it.

Cant wait for the pulls. Dad says go, I cannot stop you. He was the final step. I will video the pull and try and put it on youtube.

Thanks all! MiniC, you made me laugh when I needed it most!
