That should work. Only thing is if the hood ever does fly open, your hood will be tweaked pretty good. I just notched mine and am buiilding a guard for it so it doesnt ruin another intercooler (DOH!). With the intercooler like that, why did you need to move it?

the cooler will be mounted higher than that but i have to remove the bumper to drill some holes so its not in place yet. it will be right at the bottom of the hood brace spot that was cut for more clearance.

I also cut holes for flow in the body peace above the bumper

How big is the intercooler? 2.5" would be counter productive considering it has a 3" inlet and outlet. 2.5" is what the stock intercoolers were. I bought mine due to lack of time to fabricate my own, that and I don't have stainless material readily available to me.

I sectioned my safety catch to make it clear. There's still just enough room to get my fingers in to release the hood.

I moved mine to be lazy and there is less that 2 inchs between the intercooler and the top of the core support.

I have never had it fly up and wouldn't it be hard to open if they are that far apart?

I had one fly open on a '66 Baracuda and it slammed the safety latch pretty hard.

If they were spaced properly they wouldn't be problem to release with both of your hands.

FWIW, I like the ofset latch idea to clear the larger intercooler.
