S300 Turbo's

Im currently looking at buying a 64/14 s300 series turbo. I was told the 71mm exh wheel would be too big and never spool and they said to just go with the 65mm. Anybody know what wheel would be best? IS there really any differenace between all the companies lines of the s300?

If you can make the fuel you'll get it to spin. It looks like you have the fuel by what your sign reads

Who told you that you would never spool a 71mm turbine wheel?

I say by all means buy the s300 with the bigger 71mm wheel. The 65mm turbine wheel is from a s200. It's what I have in my Sledpuller 66-14. Basically a s300/s200 hybrid. You'll make more hp and more boost with the bigger turbine wheel. Do it now so you won't be looking to upgrade later down the road. If you want to upgrade later, HTT will make you buy a new turbine housing and the bigger 71mm wheel obviously. Not a cheap upgrade. It's usually more practical to sell your 65mm charger and then buy a new 71mm charger.

I can spin my 66/65 into orbit instantly with my auto truck. In my stick truck, the best I could muster on the dyno was 450rwhp. They might rate them around 600hp, but I think with the old 12 valve VE pump trucks, you need all the help you can get, ie the bigger turbine wheel.

If I were to do it again, I'd get the 71.

Ive got a 62/71 on my truck and let me tell ya take bgilbert's advice and go with the 71. I had a 62/65 on my truck before and it spooled pretty good. But with the 71 it may take alittle longer to get to 10psi but when it does its it pegs my 60psi boost gauge instantly. Plus the 71mm turbine really whistles at idle, it makes people turn there heads.

How much fuel do you think a person needs if they run a 71mm Schwitzer? 300hp 350hp? I'm talking everyday driving with a 5 speed.

How did the change from 65mm to 71mm turbine affect EGT's? Do you have the "12cm" or "14cm" housing?

I used to have the 12cm/65mm when I changed to a 14cm/71mm I noticed a gain in cruzing temp of about 100dg and WOT temp went down about 150-200dg. Theres a big difference in mid and top end power. Totally different truck. With the ddp 3's and everything in my sig I still manage 20mpg easy and drive it every day. Thats at about 365hp on a dyno jet (I think it was 248C or something like that).

I have the BD Power Super B S300 with the extended tip comp wheel, anyone have any idea what would be in my 14cm W/G turbine side. I know my comp is just 56mm extended tip which acts like a 60mm (still a little small ) I would just like to know the turbine specs but BD doesnt like giving those out.
